WHO CAN COME TO FOCUS?

Focus is for the Vintage Church community.

 

CAN MY KIDS COME?

Absolutely.  Focus is an all ages event, and we want to encourage all families with children to come.  Kids age 0-2 attend for free and kids age 3-18 pay only for meals.  We will also be offering a 'word and spirit' children’s program for age 2 – 5th grade led by our very own V-Kids team.  We also have a nursery for babies from ages 0 – 2.  

Both our children’s ministry and nursery run during the times adults are in sessions and seminars.   We ask that you supervise your children during all other times.

 

WHAT DO MY TEENAGERS DO AT FOCUS?

Middle and High-schoolers will have a packed youth program throughout the weekend! We also have accommodation where youth can have their own slumber party with their friends. Each dorm is same sex only and has a leader staying with them. They will be under supervision at all times. 

 

HOW DOES PAY WHAT YOU CAN WORK?

We would love for everyone at Vintage to be able to come to Focus! If you cannot afford the retreat fees, we are providing discounts for our Volunteers, so this is a great way to make it more affordable. When you register your ticket all you need to do is add the promo code WEEKENDVOLUNTEER2018 and for day ticket holders use the code DAYVOLUNTEER2018 at the checkout to get your discount! If you can't afford the ticket with the discount, please contact us at focus@vintagechurchla.com.

 

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

A full refund of your Focus purchase (tickets and accommodation) minus booking fees of $25 p/p can be requested until May 1, 2017.

PREPARING FOR FOCUS

 

WHAT SHOULD I PACK?

Temperatures at Camp Mt. Crags & Camp Gilmore in May are typically quite pleasant.  Please pack what you would wear during the summer in Malibu.   Here are some helpful items to bring:

  • Jacket and other layers for when we’re outside, especially during the campfire at night.
  • Sun protection – sunscreen, sunglasses, hats
  • Appropriate footwear for the outdoors and the pool
  • Sheets and blankets.  If your room doesn’t offer them, and you choose not to add the linen service, you’ll need to bring them.  Check out the Registration page to see which rooms include bedding.
  • Towels
  • A swimsuit if you’d like to use the pool
  • Insect repellant 

** ONLY HOTEL ROOMS OFFER SHEETS & TOWELS. ALL OTHER ACCOMMODATIONS MUST BRING SHEETS, BLANKETS, PILLOWS, & TOWELS.

 

WHAT ABOUT FOOD?

Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Sunday breakfast and lunch are all included in your ticket.  All meals are catered by Camp Mt. Crags and are very tasty!  The camp staff do their best to accommodate food allergies and restrictions, so please indicate your needs when you register.  A small shop next to the swimming pool will also offer snacks and drinks for purchase.  The family dining room is open throughout the day with drinks, water, and fresh fruit, and Vintage Church will also provide snacks.

WHERE ARE CAMP MT. CRAGS & CAMP GILMORE?

Camp Mt. Crags and Camp Gilmore are located in Tapia Park, which is along Malibu Canyon Road just past Pepperdine between Malibu and Calabasas.  It is close to civilization and yet still feels remote and quiet.  We think the location is perfect for Focus!

  • It is important to note if you’re using GPS enter 'Tapia Park, Calabasas, CA 91302'.

 

WHEN AND WHERE DO I CHECK IN?

Check-in will be at Flick Hall just inside Camp Mt Crags.

>   5/18 Friday: 2:00pm-7pm

>   5/19 Saturday: 8:15am-9:15am

>   5/20 Sunday: 8:15am-9:15am

If you will be checking in for overnight stay or for the day outside of these times please let Abi Owens know by email at focus@vintagechurchla.com so that we can best plan for your arrival. 

 

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?

The rooms vary in size and amenities. Be sure to check out the details when you register for more information on each room.  

 

CAN MY FAMILY STAY IN ONE ROOM?

Yes, of course!  We think this would be the preferred way for many families.  We suggest the Hotel rooms for families, since they have multiple beds and private bathrooms. Go to our accommodation page to find out more about the various room options we have.

 

CAN I PICK MY ROOMMATE?

You sure can!  You can book your accommodation together or separately. If you're booking separately, please be sure to choose the same style of accommodation and let us know who you will be sharing with during your check-out procedure.

We ask that all attendees respect our policy of single sex adult occupancy for each room, unless you are a married couple. 

 

CAN I PARK AT THE CAMP?

Yes, however there is limited parking available, so we recommend you carpooling with other guests. 

 

ARE SKATEBOARDS & SCOOTERS ALLOWED?

Yes, however anyone under 18 must be wearing a helmet and be supervised by an adult at all times.

 

IS THERE WI-FI AND CELL PHONE RECEPTION AT THE CAMP?

Yes, there is some cell phone reception at the camp, however it is very limited. Unfortunately, wifi is currently unavailable. 

 

WHAT ARE THE SWIMMING POOL POLICIES?

The swimming pool at Camp Mt. Crags is a solar-heated outdoor chlorinated swimming pool.  The swimming pool is only available during the day at set times when a lifeguard is on duty.  Parents, please note that you are responsible for your children's safety at all times, unless during designated nursery and children's ministry sessions.  Please do not leave your children unattended as staff will not be able to supervise them.

 

WHAT DO I DO IN CASE OF A MEDICAL EMERGENCY?

Please alert the on-site Hospitality Manager, Assistant Camp Director, or any member of the Focus team immediately.  The nearest emergency room is St. John’s Urgent Care in Malibu, which is approximately 5 minutes away.  There is also Los Robles Medical Center, a 24-hour hospital approximately 10 miles away in Thousand Oaks.
